Moorrabbin, vic, Australia
Dean Bowen's practice spans paintings, sculpture, and printmaking. He is inspired by an ever-evolving process of creativity, working throughout these various mediums. His artwork explores the wonders of nature, birds being the centre motif for a lot of his paintings. In an interview for the 'Design Files', Dean describes his original inspiration for the birds coming from hearing 'tic tack sound of birds running and dancing’ across his metal studio roof, a sound that eventually became an unofficial anthem for studio days.
Dean also explores the themes of country life, growing up in Castlemaine, he grew accustomed to the titillating sounds of nature, yet of further interest, he delves into the study of the night skies, comets and stars also come into play.
